Deputy Imam urges politicians to avoid religious campaigns ahead of polls

The Deputy National Imam of Ahlussunna Wal Jama’a (ASWAJ), Sheikh Mohammed Kamil Mohammed, has called on politicians to steer clear of religiously charged campaigns to prevent divisiveness and potential violence as the December general elections approach.
Speaking at the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Al-Azharyya Islamic SHS Cadet Corps at Old Tafo in the Ashanti Region, Sheikh Mohammed expressed concern over recent religiously motivated campaign tactics aimed at swaying voters.
He warned that such approaches could lead to division and unrest, referencing similar cases of election-related violence in other countries.
Sheikh Mohammed urged politicians and political parties to prioritize policy-based campaigns to ensure peaceful elections and avoid any unintended consequences leading up to the December 7 polls.
Additionally, Ibrahim Musah, leader of the Al-Azharyya Islamic SHS Cadet Corps, appealed to the government to consider cadet members for recruitment into national security services, noting their readiness and training for such roles.
