The Minister of Health, Mr Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, and the National Ambulance Service, have pleaded with President Nana Akufo-Addo to delay further, the intended distribution of the 275 ambulances to each of the constituencies in Ghana due to certain listed concerns.

The minister, in a letter dated 3 January 2020, endorsed a formal request by the National Ambulance Service for the distribution of the ambulances to be delayed and forwarded same to the President.

“Having engaged them and listened to the reasons for the request for the postponement, I would like to add my voice for their request to be granted,” Mr Agyeman-Manu said.

Mr Akufo-Addo had indicated in a press encounter in 2019 that the ambulances would be distributed on January 6, 2020, after the total number that has been procured arrived in the country.

But the letter of the National Ambulance Service dated 31 December 2019, stated that some “technical issues” which needed to be completed to ensure efficient operation of the ambulances have not been completed, hence the request to suspend the proposed distribution date.
