E/R: Atiwa East DCE cuts sod for construction of Nanapa CHPS compound
The District Chief Executive Officer(DCE) for Atiwa East, Mr. Ernest Owusu Ntim, has cut the sod for the construction of a Community-Based Health Centre(CHPS) compound at Nanapa in the Atiwa East District of the Eastern Region.
The CHPS compound is a basic structure consisting of accommodation of CHOs and a service delivery point.
The new edifice, when completed, will help deliver efficient health care services to the people living in the Nanapa community.
The DCE, recognising the importance of health to the good people of the Nanapa community and the stress they go through in travelling over kilometres to Anyinam Englisie to access healthcare, said we must prioritise our health needs by constructing health facilities close to our people to cater for the health needs in the community.
He reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the health delivery within the Atiwa District.
He, speaking in an interview with Accra FM/CTV news reporter Apelete Kofi Michel, said he is collaborating closely with the District Health Directorate and other agencies in health to get most of the health facilities in the district to be upgraded to Health Centres.
He said the community cannot continue to operate a health service in a rented apartment for over period when there should be a well-equipped health facility.
On his part, Baffour Quaye, Nanapa Odikro, expressed his unwavering appreciation to the DCE and the government for such relief to the community and for considering their health.
