GA/R: Lashibi Assemblyman registers over 2,000 residents onto NHIS to boost access to healthcare
The Assemblyman for Lashibi in the Tema West Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, Justice Tettey, has registered more than 2,000 residents onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to ensure easy access to quality healthcare for all within his electoral area.
According to Mr. Tettey, the initiative reflects his deep commitment to improving community health and reducing financial barriers to essential medical services.
“Every resident deserves access to healthcare without worrying about cost.
This registration drive is part of my long-term plan to make healthcare universal in Lashibi,” he stated.
The week-long health outreach includes NHIS card renewals, registration of new members, and free medical screenings such as breast examinations, blood pressure checks, and tests for blood sugar levels and hypertension.
Mr. Tettey noted that the current exercise builds on a similar initiative held last month, emphasising his continuous dedication to the welfare of his constituents.
At the Tema District Office of the NHIS, Mingle Maxwell Adotei, a Data Entry Clerk, highlighted the significance of maintaining an active NHIS membership.
He explained that valid NHIS cards grant residents access to a wide range of medical services at accredited facilities nationwide.
Several beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Assemblyman, describing the initiative as both timely and impactful.
Many said the registration has lifted a major financial burden and encouraged them to seek regular medical checkups.
“This initiative has really helped my family.
We can now visit the hospital without worrying about money,” said one resident.
The Lashibi NHIS registration drive stands as a strong example of community-centred leadership, prioritising health, accessibility, and social responsibility.
