The coronavirus case count has hit fifty-three with two deathsfollowing the confirmation of one more case.

In a statement, the Ghana Health Service said: “All the 51 confirmed cases are receiving treatment in isolation.”

Twenty-six of some 1,030 people who have been mandatorily quarantined upon arrival from abroad, spiked the number of cases on Tuesday.

844 of them have had their samples taken out of which 510 were tested from which the 26 were confirmed.

The “great majority of the confirmed cases are Ghanaians, who returned home from affected countries. Seven are of other nationals namely: Norway, Lebanon, China, France, UK. In respect of contact-tracing, a total of 829 contacts have been identified and are being tracked. One of the contacts developed symptoms and has been confirmed positive”, the statement said, adding that nineteen people have completed the 14-day mandatory follow-up.

So far, 382,431 cases have been recorded worldwide with 16,573 deaths while 102,513 have fully recovered.
