The Minister of Communication at the Presidency and Member of Parliament for Abura Asebu Kwamankese, Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has announced that the government will construct 600 CHPS compounds across the country by the end of 2025 as part of a broader initiative to expand access to healthcare.

Speaking during a donation ceremony at the Brafoyaw Health Centre in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District, Mr. Ofosu revealed that the ultimate goal is to build 2,000 CHPS compounds within President John Dramani Mahama’s four-year term.

“Each district will receive at least two CHPS compounds under this policy, with funding coming from the District Assembly Common Fund,” he said in an interview with Nana Tawiah of Accra 100.5 FM.

He noted that healthcare delivery is a top priority for the current administration, especially in deprived communities where access to medical services remains a challenge.

“We are determined to bring quality healthcare to the doorstep of every Ghanaian.

The aim is to eliminate the barriers many face in accessing basic health services,” the minister added.

As part of his efforts, Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu donated essential medical equipment to the Brafoyaw Health Centre, fulfilling one of his 2024 campaign promises.

He disclosed that although he intended to support health facilities in his constituency earlier, he was restricted from doing so while he was still a parliamentary candidate.

“Now that I am a Member of Parliament, I will ensure every health centre in this district receives the support it needs,” he assured.

Residents of Brafoyaw expressed profound appreciation for the gesture, highlighting the pressing needs the donation addresses.

According to them, the health centre, which serves a population of over 2,000, had only one old hospital bed, forcing many to seek treatment at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

“This donation will go a long way to relieve the pressure on the health centre and improve healthcare delivery in our community,” a resident said.

Mr Kwakye Ofosu assured constituents of more developmental projects under his tenure and urged them to remain patient and supportive as efforts to improve the district's infrastructure and public services gather momentum.

“We are just getting started. Abura Asebu Kwamankese is going to witness massive development,” he concluded.
