Ken Ofori-Atta undergoes successful prostate cancer surgery in U.S.A -Wife

Former Finance Minister of Ghana, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, has successfully undergone a robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy to treat prostate cancer at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
The surgery, which lasted over four hours, was conducted on Friday, June 13, and marks a critical step in Mr. Ofori-Atta’s journey to recovery.
According to a statement issued by his wife, Prof. Mrs. Angela Ofori-Atta, doctors are pleased with the outcome of the procedure and have now placed him on a postoperative care regimen.
Prof. Ofori-Atta described the experience as particularly difficult, noting that it was further complicated by the timing of a red alert issued by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) shortly before the surgery.
“Ken has always shown remarkable resilience, but this has been one of the more challenging moments,” she said.
“He remains strong and focused on regaining his health.”
She expressed deep gratitude to the many individuals and clergy who have offered their prayers and support during this period.
Mr. Ofori-Atta served as Ghana’s Finance Minister from 2017 until 2024 and was widely recognised for his role in leading several key economic initiatives during his tenure.
His recent health challenge and the ongoing scrutiny from the OSP have drawn national attention.
The family has asked for continued prayers and privacy as Mr. Ofori-Atta continues his recovery.
