Kweku Agyeman Manu down with COVID-19

Ghana’s Minister of Health, Kweku Agyeman Manu has tested positive for COVID-19 and recovering in hospital, Accra-based Citi News reported on Saturday, 13 June 2020.

The Dormaa Central MP has been receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Accra in the past week.

He should be one of the two MPs who were confirmed COVID-19 positive in Parliament after mandatory tests.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, K K Sam, has died at UGMC where he was being managed for an undisclosed illness.

The later mayor’s driver was diagnosed with COVID-19 earlier.

So far, Ghana has recorded 262 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country’s total number to 11,118 as of Saturday, 13 June 2020, the Ghana Health Service has reported.

Also, the number of recoveries is now 3,979.

The death toll remains 48.

This means Ghana’s health authorities are grappling with 7,091 active cases, the majority of whom are asymptomatic.

So far, a total of 24 people are in the severe and critical conditions categories at various health facilities in Accra and Kumasi with four of them on ventilators.
