Lack of well-furnished facilities retarding healthcare delivery in La-Nkwantanang-Director

The La-Madina-Nkwantanang Municipal Director of Health in the Greater Accra Region, Mrs Priscilla Anima-Poku, has said the lack of well-furnished facilities in the municipality has retarded their quest to deliver quality healthcare.
The Municipal Director said this during their 2022 Annual Performance Review held at Madina, a suburb of Accra.
She said this performance review was to give an account of their services from 2021-2022.
According to her, the review will also identify their performance to give their clients quality healthcare.
Speaking to Class 91.3FM, Mrs Anima-Poku said the population of the municipality hovers around 250,000 hence, the need for the municipality to be divided into sub-districts where each is given a target to achieve.
She said as a municipality, they targeted a zero maternal mortality rate but they recorded nine cases in 2021 and four cases in 2022.
“It is our prayer that no child or mother is lost at birth in the years ahead of us,” she said.
She, therefore, called on the government and stakeholders to support them with adequate facilities to carry out their work and to achieve their target.
At the event, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Madina Constituency, Mr Francis-Xavier Sosu, also commended the municipal health directorate for their good works, despite the lack of adequate facilities to carry out their duties.
He said he will collaborate with the Municipal Assembly to put up a well-furnished facility for them to work in.
He pledged to lobby for a lot of medical structures for proper health delivery.
For his part, the Medical Administrator at the Pentecost Hospital, Dr Philip Sarpong, also said the hospital has over the years served as a municipal health centre and called on the government to come to their aid.
