Napo breaks ground for NHIA district office construction at Manhyia

Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has initiated the construction of a National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) District Office in Manhyia.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held on Wednesday, forms part of the NPP government’s efforts to expand access to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) across the country to enhance healthcare delivery.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Opoku Prempeh highlighted the significance of the project, noting that the new office will alleviate the challenges faced by residents of Manhyia and its surrounding communities, especially vulnerable groups, who currently travel long distances to access NHIS services.
“This edifice, when completed, will reduce the stress residents go through to access NHIS services in other districts.
It will also relieve the overburdened surrounding insurance schemes, thereby enhancing the quality of work. More residents will now be able to register and access healthcare with their NHIS cards,” he said.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh commended the traditional authorities for providing centrally located land for the project, ensuring accessibility for all.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the NHIA, Louisa Atta-Agyemang, also spoke at the event, emphasizing the project’s impact on improving service delivery.
“The new office will empower our service providers to deliver their duties effectively and efficiently, ensuring better service for the people of this district.
We are committed to implementing all necessary measures to make this facility operational and client-focused,” she assured.
