Nurse allowance: ¢177m coming Thursday to clear arrears – Bawumia

The Vice-President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has announced the release of GHS177 million to the Ministry of Health to settle outstanding allowances owed to nursing trainees nationwide.
The reintroduction of the nursing trainee allowance by the Akufo-Addo-led government has been met with anticipation, particularly after months of arrears.
Speaking at a gathering with nurses and midwives in Accra, Dr. Bawumia underscored the urgency of the matter, affirming that the funds are slated for disbursement on Thursday, 16 March 2024.
“This Thursday, the Controller is transferring GHS177 million to the Ministry of Health to pay the nursing training allowances".
“So, I have also alerted Dr. Okoe-Boye to be on standby when the money hits the Ministry of Health account, they should move it quickly to the accounts of the nursing trainees so that they will have their alawa. It will drop,” the Vice-President announced.
