#2024Polls: Catholic Bishops acknowledge 'peaceful, transparent elections', commend Jean Mensa and EC for professionalism
The Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC) has extended its “heartfelt congratulations” to the Jean Mensa-led Electoral Commission (EC) on “the successful administration of the 2024 parliamentary and presidential elections”.
“We commend the EC for the professionalism, transparency, and efficiency with which the elections were organised and managed,” a GCBC statement dated, Wednesday, December 11, signed by Most Rev Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, extoled.
“Despite the challenges that inevitably accompany the conduct of elections in any democracy, the EC's dedication to upholding the integrity of the electoral process has been evident, ensuring that Ghana continues to serve as a model of democracy on the African continent.”
The GCBC said: “We particularly recognize the significant efforts made by Mrs. Jean Mensa, who has demonstrated exemplary leadership and steadfast commitment to the Electoral Commission's mandate. Under her stewardship, the EC has not only delivered a credible electoral process but has also strengthened public confidence in the country's electoral systems.
“In addition, we applaud the EC for its effective collaboration with other stakeholders, including political parties, security agencies, civil society organizations, and the electorate, ensuring that the process was peaceful, transparent, and conducted in a manner that reflects the will of the people.
“We pray for continued peace and stability in our nation, and we encourage all stakeholders to continue working together in the spirit of unity, respect, and national development.”
In conclusion, the GCBC prayed: “May God continue to bless Ghana and guide our leaders in their responsibility to serve the people with wisdom, integrity, and dedication.”
