#2024Polls: NDC demands removal of Presiding Officer in Manhyia South
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for the immediate removal of the Presiding Officer at the Jack City Dichemso Polling Station in the Manhyia South Constituency of the Ashanti Region.
According to Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the NDC’s Director of Elections and IT, the Presiding Officer allegedly broke the party’s seal on a ballot box without informing party agents, a breach of electoral protocol.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred during the election process, leading to heightened tensions at the polling station.
In a statement, Dr. Omane Boamah emphasized the seriousness of the issue, stating, "The Presiding Officer's actions undermine the transparency and fairness of the electoral process.
We demand an immediate replacement to restore trust in the process."
The NDC has confirmed that the contents of the ballot box are currently being audited to ensure no irregularities have occurred.
The party urged the Electoral Commission to act swiftly to address the matter and ensure that such incidents do not compromise the integrity of the elections.
