The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, has reaffirmed the Commission’s steadfast commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the country’s electoral process, vowing that the voice of the electorate will remain paramount.

At a press conference held on Sunday, 8 December 2024, Mrs. Mensa underscored the EC’s dedication to transparency and impartiality, assuring Ghanaians of a credible outcome to the 2024 general elections.

“We will uphold the people’s will,” she declared. “The election process was conducted in accordance with the highest standards of integrity, and the results to be announced will reflect the true choice of the Ghanaian electorate.”

Her remarks come amid national anticipation for the official declaration of John Dramani Mahama as President-Elect, following the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s resounding victory in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.

The NDC’s triumph has also secured an absolute majority in Parliament, consolidating its legislative influence.

Acknowledging challenges encountered during the collation process, Jean Mensa reassured Ghanaians of the EC’s resolve to uphold democratic principles.

“Despite some hurdles, we remain committed to ensuring that every aspect of this election meets the expectations of Ghanaians and adheres to the principles of fairness and transparency,” she stated.

The peaceful conduct of the 2024 elections has been widely commended both locally and internationally, further cementing Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa.
