57% of Ghanaians prefer Bawumia to lead NPP - Global Info
A new survey by Global Info Analytics has revealed that 57 per cent of Ghanaians prefer former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the next general election.
The findings, shared on the organisation’s official social media platforms on Monday, September 29, suggest Dr Bawumia remains the most favoured candidate among the general voting population.
According to the polling outfit, the Vice President maintains a clear lead across the country, reflecting a broad-based appeal among ordinary voters.
However, the survey indicates that while Dr Bawumia retains strong support nationwide, his performance among NPP delegates has weakened in recent weeks.
The data points to a shift of some delegate support into the undecided category.
The research further shows that despite Dr Bawumia’s slip in the internal party race, his closest contender, Kennedy Agyapong, has failed to take advantage of the situation.
The former Assin Central legislator has not translated the Vice President’s losses among delegates into tangible gains for his own campaign, leaving the contest still tilted in favour of Dr Bawumia.
Global Info Analytics noted that the development underscores both the Vice President’s resilience among the wider public and the uncertainty within the party’s electoral college.
Analysts say the findings highlight a potential gap between the mood of grassroots NPP members and the broader electorate as the party prepares to choose its flagbearer for the 2028 polls.
