A/R: Akufo-Addo "plagiarising" projects – NDC

The Ashanti Regional caucus of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has taken a swipe at President Nana Akufo-Addo over what they describe as his inspection of plagiarised and petty projects in his just-ended tour of the region.

At a press conference organised by the Deputy Communication Officer of the party, Abass Nurudeen, the NDC called on the President to give proof of projects done in the region under his watch.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the press, we in the NDC thought President Akufo-Addo was an expert only in the plagiarism of speeches; we never knew he plagiarises projects, too. A timber processing factory that was established in 2010, MIRO FORESTRY COMPANY LIMITED, in the Sekyere Afram Plains, was recommissioned by President Akufo-Addo under the 1D1F programme. The President must immediately answer the following questions in his attempt to expropriate this particular project:

"How on earth can a private company that was established in 2010, all of a sudden metamorphose into a 1D1F programme that supposedly started in 2017?

"What has become of the promise by President Akufo-Addo to build a brand-new Corn Flakes factory for the people of Sekyere Afram Plains?"

According to Mr Nurudeen, the Ashanti Region has been abandoned after voting massively for the NPP to win power.

"The President's tour has ended, and inhabitants of the Ashanti Region are still struggling to figure out exactly what he inspected. In the estimation of the people of the Ashanti Region, these are projects that should ordinarily be within the domain of Assemblymembers and never ever catch presidential attention. After three years in government, the people of the Ashanti Region would not be asking for too much if they demand from President Akufo-Addo legacy and life-impacting projects," he said.
