A/R: NDC raises alarm over neglect of ministerial residence and presidential villa
The Ashanti Regional Directorate of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised concerns over the deteriorating state of the Ashanti Regional Minister’s residence and the presidential villa located within the Regional Coordinating Council at Danyame, Kumasi.
The neglected facilities, which serve as key state properties, have fallen into disrepair, with overgrown vegetation, structural damage, and reports of reptiles inhabiting the premises.
Several installations, including window frames and air conditioners, are alleged to have been stolen.
During a visit to the site, Andrews Augustus Nana Kwasi, the NDC’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, expressed shock at the condition of the properties and criticized the former Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei Mensah, for allowing the facilities to deteriorate.
“It is appalling that such critical state properties have been left to decay.
This level of neglect is unacceptable and calls for accountability,” Nana Kwasi stated.
Accompanying the Regional Chairman was Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the NDC’s Ashanti Regional Secretary, who called for immediate action.
He urged the incoming Regional Minister to launch an investigation into the neglect and theft of state property and to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
The NDC officials underscored the importance of maintaining state properties to uphold the dignity of public office and ensure the efficient use of national resources.
The party’s leadership emphasized that addressing these issues is crucial for fostering public trust in the stewardship of state assets.
