A/R: NPP annuls constituency executive elections in three constituencies
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has annulled the constituency executive elections conducted over the weekend in three constituencies, citing breaches of party directives, election regulations and, in some cases, existing court orders.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the party said the decision was taken by its National Steering Committee following a review of the constituency executive elections held across the country.
The affected constituencies are Bantama, Afigya Sekyere East and Adansi Asokwa.
According to the NPP, the elections in the three constituencies were conducted "in flagrant disregard of Party directives, the Rules and Regulations governing the 2026 Constituency Executive Elections, and, where applicable, subsisting court orders."
The National Steering Committee has also summoned the Ashanti Regional Steering Committee to appear before it on Tuesday, 21 July 2026, to explain the circumstances surrounding the conduct of the elections in the affected constituencies.
The party further announced that election-related issues concerning Asante Akyem Central, together with all other unresolved constituency election disputes, have been referred to the Electoral Affairs Committee of the National Council for advice and recommendations.
The NPP said it remains committed to upholding the rule of law, ensuring strict compliance with its constitution and regulations, and preserving the integrity, credibility and transparency of its internal democratic processes.
