Akufo-Addo files nomination
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has filed his nomination form to contest the flag bearer position of the governing New Patriotic Party.
He moved straight to the head office of his party at Asylum Down in Accra to file the forms right after delivering his last State of the Nation Address for his first term of office.
He was joined by some big wigs of the party to present the forms to the NPP Chairman, Mr Freddie Blay and the General Secretary, Mr John Boadu.
The President is, yet again, seeking the endorsement of the delegates of the NPP to lead the party to the general elections of 2020 as its flag bearer.
He is the only candidate expected to contest the party’s flag bearer slot.
In line with the NPP's constitution and the rules and regulations for the upcoming primaries, the President, being the sole contestant thus far, is expected to be acclaimed as the party’s 2020 flag bearer at a national congress to be held simultaneously across the country on 25 April.
