Appointments Committee apologizes for ruthless chaos during yesterday's vetting session

The Appointments Committee of Parliament has issued a formal apology to Ghanaians following the chaotic scenes that erupted during the vetting session on Thursday evening.
The session, which was meant to vet Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, descended into disorder as Majority and Minority members clashed over scheduling disagreements.
The chaos unfolded when the Minority Caucus proposed rescheduling the vetting to Friday, citing concerns over the proceedings.
However, the Majority rejected the suggestion, insisting that the process continue as scheduled.
The disagreement escalated dramatically, with Minority members disrupting the session by breaking tables and microphones in an effort to halt the vetting.
In response, the Majority held their ground, arguing that the committee was adhering to its established schedule and could not afford any interruptions.
As tensions escalated, security personnel were deployed to restore order in the conference room.
In its apology, the Appointments Committee acknowledged the disruption and expressed regret over the incident.
They assured the public that measures would be put in place to prevent such occurrences in the future and to ensure that the vetting process remains orderly and respectful.
The committee reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability and called on all members to uphold the integrity of parliamentary proceedings.
