Armed robbers shoot at Sissala West MP
Sissala West MP Mohammed Adama Sukparu has said gunmen attacked him while returning from a funeral at Jefisi in the Upper West Region on Friday, 23 July 2021, at about almost 8 pm.
He said the armed men were about five in number.
The lawmaker said the armed men stopped his car between Jefisi and Bulu and, without provocation, started firing at him and the other occupants.
He said his bodyguard returned fire and hit one of the armed men.
Mr Sukparu, however, said his driver sped off at that instant and, so, was unable to tell what happened thereafter.
All the occupants in the car escaped unscathed.
The MP later reported the case to the Sissala West District Police Command for investigation.
