Ashanti NDC readies for 'Enough is Enough' demo tomorrow
The Ashanti Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced plans to stage a protest demanding that the Electoral Commission (EC) ensure the creation of a credible voter register ahead of the December 7 general elections.
Speaking at a press conference today, Regional Secretary Dr. Frank Amoakohene confirmed that the party has obtained approval from the Regional Police Command to proceed with the protest, scheduled for tomorrow.
Dr. Amoakohene detailed the route for the protest, stating that demonstrators would gather at the regional NDC headquarters, march through key streets, and conclude at the regional office of the EC in Danyame.
During the demonstration, a petition will be delivered, calling for a forensic audit of the voter register to address concerns about irregularities.
Citing specific issues in constituencies like New Edubiase, Asante Akyem South, and Ahafo Ano North, Dr. Amoakohene expressed the party's determination to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
He emphasized that ensuring a credible voter register is essential for a free and fair election.
He also urged the public to participate in the protest in large numbers to pressurise the EC to act on their demands for transparency and credibility in the voter registration process.
