'Bawumia is no match for NDC': Majority overjoyed for NPP's flagbearer choice
Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has expressed confidence that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) can defeat the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in any future general election.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, January 3, 2026, Mr Ayariga acknowledged the NPP’s internal electoral process and congratulated Dr Bawumia on his victory in the party’s flagbearer contest held on Saturday, January 31.
He observed the celebratory mood on the Minority side of the House, where several NPP MPs wore white to mark the occasion, and explained that he had chosen similar attire for a different reason.
