Blows fly at Accra NPP polls over TESCON delegates
Blows were exchanged between some delegates in the ongoing internal polls of the governing New Patriotic Party in the Greater Accra Region on Saturday, 28 May 2022 as some supporters of one of the contestants for the youth organiser slot stopped some Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) delegates from voting.
A disagreement ensured which threw the elections into chaos.
The elections are taking place in seven regions concurrently.
In the Ashanti Region, the party’s stronghold, there was a similar misunderstanding in connection with some TESCON delegates, who said their names had either been deleted or replaced with aliens.
The voting came to an abrupt halt as a result of the disagreement.
