Bono NPP serial callers demand probe into GHS 30K stipend disbursement
Some communicators and serial callers of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region are demanding accountability for some GHS30,000 they claim the party’s headquarters disburse to their regional leaders monthly for onward disbursement to them as stipend.
The money, according to one of the leaders of the communicators, Mr. Gabriel Korang Ababio, is paid to the coffers of the regional communications directorate monthly.
Mr. Ababio, however, told Accra-based Asempa FM on Monday, 25 October 2021 that the funds are not equitably disbursed among the 60 regional communicators made up of radio and television panelists as well as serial callers who promote the policies of the party.
The communicators, he noted, are paid GHS200 and GHS300 each, depending on the work they do.
Mr. Ababio is, therefore, demanding a probe into the disbursement of the funds.
“It is against this background that all communicators in the region took the decision to distance themselves from the party’s communications going forward,” he said, adding: “We cannot be seen to be working for an individual to be feeding fat on our sweat”.
Mr. Ababio said the matter has been reported to the National Deputy Director of Communications of the party, Mr. Kofi Agyepong for redress but to no avail.
