Bryan Acheampong stands vindicated as SSNIT continues search for strategic investor
The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has confirmed it is still actively seeking investors for three of its hotel properties—La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Elmina Beach Resort, and Busua Beach Resort.
This revelation comes months after intense public scrutiny over SSNIT’s proposed sale of a 60% stake in these assets, a move that was fiercely debated across political and civil platforms.
The latest update from SSNIT, reported by Joy News, underscores the ongoing struggle to make these properties financially viable.
Despite years of operational oversight, the hotels continue to underperform, prompting SSNIT to intensify its search for strategic partners who can inject capital, expertise, and vision into the hospitality assets.
This development has vindicated Dr Bryan Acheampong, Member of Parliament for Abetifi and former Minister for Food and Agriculture, whose Rock City Hotel at the time, put in the strongest technical proposal and highest bid to take over the struggling SSNIT hotels and turn them into profitability.
SSNIT’s continued search for investors now validates Bryan's position that Ghana must embrace pragmatic partnerships to unlock the full potential of its tourism infrastructure.
Dr Acheampong, who is currently spearheading the construction of an Airport in Kwahu—set to feature the longest runway in the world—has consistently championed private-sector collaboration and regional development.
His vision to see different parts of Ghana becoming tourism and investment hubs aligns with the very challenges SSNIT is now confronting: how to turn underperforming assets into engines of growth.
As SSNIT continues its investor search, the broader conversation around asset management, tourism strategy, and leadership vision is expected to intensify.
