CLOGSAG begins nationwide strike over appointments of ‘politically exposed persons into the civil service and the local governments’
The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Civil & Local Government Staff Association Ghana (CLOGSAG) has said it met on February 11, 2025, and discussed issues connected with “the appointment of politically exposed persons into the civil service and the local governments”.
During its meeting, the council said it noted the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway, “a politically exposed person as the Registrar of Births and Deaths Registry”.
A statement dated February 13, signed by Isaac Bampoe Addo, Executive Secretary, CLOGSAG, emphasised, “The National Executive Council (NEC) decided that should Mr. Samuel-Adom Botchway assume office as Registrar of Births and Deaths Registry, CLOGSAG-should declare nationwide strike.”
“Mr. Samuel Adom Botchway took office on Wednesday, 12th February 2025. The Association has no option than to call for a nationwide strike from Thursday, 20th February 2025,” CLOGSAG announced.
“We call on all CLOGSAG members to stay at home from Thursday, 20th February 2025 until further notice,” the statement ended.
