COKA preaches against skirt and blouse voting in Ashanti Region
The former Afigya Kwabre South Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) , Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah ( COKA) has spoken against the party people voting for an NPP presidential candidate and deciding to vote for an independent or different parliamentary candidate.
“ there is something about our political lexicon called skirt and blouse voting, where party people will vote for NPP presidential candidate and then decide to vote for an independent or another parliamentary candidate. That practice derailed the progress of this party and by extension this country.
Look at how NPP is suffering to get its programmes and policies through Parliament today.
It is not good and such voting must not be encouraged “, COKA said during the official launch of the Offinso South NPP constituency campaign over the weekend in the Ashanti Region
He stated that elections have consequences and therefore the people of Ghana must know the party that consider the welfare of the people and vote for them.
“ Elections have consequences. So you should always vote for the party that will stabilize your energy supply (electricity) and not the National Democratic Party ( (NDC) and their candidate John Mahama who could not supply stable power for more than 4 years.
NDC fought Free Senior HIgh school policy's introduction and so cannot protect it when voted to power, except the NPP who introduced it”.
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah was of the view that it is only under the NPP administration that Ghana sees progress.
“ Every fair-minded Ghanaian will testify that it is only during the eras of NPP that this country witnesses a lot of development especially social intervention programmes like free maternal care, free education and many others “.
He called for unity within the ranks of NPP in Ashanti region to maximize votes for the Party’s presidential candidate , Dr. Mahmadu Bawumia and the parliamentary candidates.
“With unity, NPP will win this year's elections. NPP is the biggest political party in Ghana with huge numbers. Let’s unite behind the big elephant to maximize votes in the region for our presidential candidate and the parliamentary candidates.
Ashanti region must not disappoint NPP” he concluded.
