Dec. 7 polls: EC adjusts ballot statistics

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced important updates regarding ballot statistics for the upcoming 2024 general elections, revealing that 20 specific polling stations will require additional ballot booklets.
This announcement, made in a statement issued on Monday, 28 October 2024, is part of the EC’s commitment to refining electoral processes in response to recent feedback and judicial rulings concerning the 2024 Provisional Voters Register.
The decision to amend ballot allocations followed comprehensive reviews conducted by District Registration Review Officers (DRROs) and rulings from High Courts aimed at addressing discrepancies identified during the voter registration process.
These adjustments were further informed by the results of a re-exhibition of the Provisional Voters Register, which enabled citizens and political parties to verify voter information and pinpoint any inaccuracies that could affect election day.
The EC underscored its dedication to transparency and collaboration throughout this revision process.
"The Electoral Commission announces for the information of the General Public that, following the implementation of the decisions of the District Registration Review Officers (DRROs) and the High Courts as well as the revisions made after the Re-Exhibition of the Provisional Voters Register, there have been slight revisions to the 2024 Ballot Statistics submitted to the Political Parties and the Printing Firms."
The EC further detailed: "The Polling Stations for which printing of additional ballot booklets is required sum up to twenty (20). The schedule of affected Polling Stations is attached for the information of the General Public."
The revised ballot statistics, including specifics about the affected polling stations, have been shared with political parties, independent presidential candidates, and printing firms.
The EC has urged the general public to take note of these updates as the nation gears up for a critical electoral period.
