Dec. 7 polls: Will only accept results if process is fair – Mahama
The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has reaffirmed that he will only accept the results of the 7 December General Election if the process is transparent and credible.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the BBC, Mr Mahama expressed reservations about the fairness of the electoral process, warning that any outcome tainted by irregularities or violence would be unacceptable.
“If on the election day, there is widespread ballot snatching, beating of people, and the military moving in and intimidating people, and thugs are all over the place, rampaging the place, you want me to accept that result? It will depend on the transparency and the fairness of the process,” he stated emphatically.
Highlighting the importance of safeguarding the country’s democracy, Mr Mahama stressed the need for a free and fair election, urging electoral stakeholders to prioritise integrity.
