Dr Akplotsyi challenges Dr Bawumia's reasons for NPP's electoral defeat
Dr Richard Akplotsyi, a senior lecturer in Built and Natural Environment at Ho Technical University, Ho, Volta Region, has criticised Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's reasons for the New Patriotic Party’s 2024 electoral defeat.
Dr Akplotsyi accused Dr Bauwmia, the NPP’s 2024 flagbearer, of evading responsibility for economic mismanagement which led to his party’s defeat.
Dr Bawumia, amongst other reasons, has recently cited the incomplete National Cathedral project and the associated expenditure of $58 million as significant contributors to the party’s electoral loss, arguing these instances eroded public trust.
Dr Richard Akplotsyi argued the economic challenges faced by Ghana under the Nana Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led NPP tenure significantly contributed to their electoral defeat.
He urged the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration to take their mandate seriously, shun lamentations and proactively address the needs of Ghanaians.
“Ghanaians know their problems and they need solutions from leaders not those who will come and recount the problems for them,” he said.
“If you want to remain in power, then do the opposite of what NPP did that led to their defeat.”
Former Vice President Bawumia is currently on his Thank You Tour.
