E/R: 9 perish in accident near Bunso Junction
An accident at Birimso near Bunso Junction on the main Accra-Kumasi Highway has left 7 male and 2 female passengers dead.
The accident, which occurred on Sunday, 26 March 2023, involved two commercial Toyota Hiace minibuses.
The buses belonging to 2M Express Company Limited were both travelling in the opposite direction.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that the bus from Accra in an attempt to swerve a container that had fallen onto the road from a trailer, crashed into the other bus which was travelling towards Accra from the Kumasi direction leading to the deaths of the 9 passengers.
The severity of the impact led to the death of the 9 passengers, 7 males and 2 females on the spot.
The Bunso Fire Station Officer ADO II Doe Samuel said: “Personnel from the Bunso fire station and the police who had a torrid time extricating the injured from the wreckage hurriedly rushed 19 victims to the Kibi Government Hospital and Hawa Memorial Saviour Hospital in Osiem where they are currently receiving treatment.”
