Eastern Youth Development Association congratulates President Mahama

A development-focused group in the Eastern Region called the Eastern Youth Development Association (EYDA) has extended heartfelt congratulations to President John Dramani Mahama on his historic inauguration for a second term as President of the Republic of Ghana.
The group also celebrated the swearing-in of Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as the country’s first-ever female Vice President.
In a statement signed by its Secretary, John Nyakpo, the group commended President Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their hard-fought victory in the 2024 elections.
“Ghana has once again demonstrated its democratic credentials by this historic moment.
We congratulate Your Excellency and your party for a well-deserved victory after tirelessly campaigning across the country to share your vision for the nation,” the statement read.
The group acknowledged the significant challenges ahead for the new government and urged the President to act swiftly in addressing the pressing needs of the populace, particularly the youth.
Additionally, the group reiterated its call for the creation of a new region out of the existing Eastern Region to facilitate development.
They referenced a petition submitted to President Mahama during the election campaign, expressing hope that the proposal would receive serious consideration.
“As you rightly stated in your inaugural speech, ‘We must not be set into perpetual pessimism.’ We remain optimistic that, guided by the social contract you have signed with the good people of Ghana, you will deliver to the admiration of all, ensuring Ghana becomes a beacon of hope for all,” the statement concluded.
