Economic crisis: NPP fixated with breaking- the-eight when Ghanaians want solutions-Dept. Minority Whip

The Deputy Minority Chief Whip, Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim, has criticized the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for being preoccupied with breaking the eight-year political cycle instead of addressing the country's economic crisis under President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He stated that the NPP appears to lack solutions for reviving the collapsed economy, focusing solely on their political ambition to break the eight-year cycle.
Mr. Ibrahim questioned the NPP's priorities, asking how they plan to break- the -eight when every sector of the economy is struggling.
He emphasized that Ghanaians are more concerned with economic recovery than with the NPP's political goals.
He also criticized the government for failing to address the high unemployment rate, which an International Monetary Fund (IMF) report states has left about two million Ghanaians jobless.
Under the current administration, unemployment has risen from 8 percent under former President John Dramani Mahama to 14 percent.
Speaking in an interview on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ghana Yensom morning show with host Otafrigya Kaayire Kwesi Apea-Apreku on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, Mr. Ibrahim, who is also the Member of Parliament for Banda Constituency in the Bono Region, expressed his dissatisfaction with the current government's performance.
He labelled President Akufo-Addo's legacy as one of creating unemployment and argued that the government's actions have disillusioned the country's youth, leading many to seek opportunities abroad.
He concluded that all sectors of the economy are in disarray, accusing the NPP of focusing on propaganda to win the next election rather than addressing the country's pressing economic issues
