Economy: NPP has toddlers, NDC has seasoned men – MP

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tain Constituency in the Bono Region has appealed to Ghanaians to take with a pinch of salt claims by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) that it has capable and result-oriented men for the Economic Management Team (EMT).

Mr Adama Sulemana said NPP’s men have mismanaged the economy even though Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said they have a solid economic team.

"President Nana Akufo-Addo has not only been reckless with the management of the economy but run it down," he explained, adding that Ghana cannot pay its debt.

He posited that the persons leading Ghana’s economy are not men but toddlers.

However, he argued, "The men in NDC are seasoned men who have seen it all and are cut to do the job.”

The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP mocked the NPP leaders at the helm of the EMT while speaking on The Citizen Show hosted by Kwabena Bobie Ansah on Accra 100.5 FM on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

"The NDC men went to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 2015 with a programme [whereas] the NPP men are at the IMF with empty hands," he said.

He assured the nation that the "NDC has men to move Ghana out of these economic conundrums... Today, they say its Covid-19, tomorrow they say it is the Russia-Ukraine war.

"The NDC is the only party that can take Ghana from these doldrums of mismanagement and reckless expenditures."

He warned that there is the likelihood the IMF might not give the country the expected US$3 billion bailout programme because "the toddlers have failed."

"These men have declared Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) yet Ghana has the largest food inflation following Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe," he noted
