Edmund Agboh confirmed as Ga East MCE
Mr. Edmund Agboh has been officially confirmed as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ga East Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region, promising a leadership style rooted in transparency, inclusiveness, and development-oriented governance.
In a speech delivered during his confirmation ceremony, Mr. Agboh expressed deep gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama, the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, and other key party and government stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him.
“As a member of the National Democratic Congress, I fully align myself with our Party’s vision on local governance, particularly as articulated in the 'RESET' agenda.
We believe in revitalising local governance through accountability, citizen participation, and innovation,” he said.
Mr. Agboh acknowledged the significant challenges facing the Ga East Municipality, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, revenue mobilisation, and sanitation.
He emphasised his commitment to lead an open and accountable administration focused on improving Internally Generated Fund (IGF) and developing innovative revenue collection systems.
He outlined his development priorities, including:
Road Infrastructure: Upgrading the Narhman-Musuku Road to decongest the Haatso–Atomic corridor and rehabilitating the Pure Water Road to address perennial flooding.
Local Roads: Deploying DRIP machines to enhance motorability of community roads, with a dedicated director and equipment operators to be appointed soon.
ECOWAS Highway Project: Supporting the completion of key roads under President Mahama’s administration, including the Pokuase-Kwabenya-Agbogba and Dome-Blekusu-Kitase stretches.
Market Development: Rehabilitation and expansion of markets and lorry stations in collaboration with stakeholders, with assurances that no trader will be unfairly displaced.
Sanitation and Water: Strengthening enforcement of the National Sanitation Day policy, tackling water scarcity, and addressing health hazards posed by unregulated infrastructure.
Security and Land Administration: Ensuring peace and tackling land grabbing with the support of the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC).
Mr. Agboh pledged to work closely with the Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Madam Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of these initiatives.
He also extended a hand of unity to all residents, regardless of political, ethnic, or religious backgrounds. “Development cannot thrive in an environment of division,” he stated.
“We must work together to build a municipality we can all be proud of.”
Mr. Agboh concluded with tributes to traditional leaders, party faithful, family, and religious leaders for their support, and a heartfelt appreciation to his wife, Christina Selormey Agboh, for her unwavering encouragement.
“I pledge to serve with integrity, dedication, and humility. With your support, Ga East will rise to greater heights,” he affirmed.
