It's a double whammy as court trashes NDC's Techiman South petition, fines party ¢100k
The National Democratic Congress's (NDC) election petition concerning the Techiman South election results of 2020, has been dismissed by the Wenchi High Court.
The party, in addition to losing the case, has also been ordered by the court to pay a fine of GH¢100,000.
The Member of Parliament for the constituency, Mr Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, will share the fine with the Electoral Commission.
The NDC filed the petition claiming it won the seat but for the connivance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Electoral Commission.
The two defendants insisted the results were legitimate.
Per the EC's declaration, Mr Adjei Mensah Korsah polled 49,682 votes as against 49,205 votes of the NDC's Christopher Beyere.
