John Mahama pledges a fresh start for Ghana

President John Dramani Mahama has described his new administration as an opportunity for a fresh start in governance, promising to reset Ghana’s economic and political trajectory after years of hardship.
Speaking after his swearing-in as the 6th President of the 4th Republic on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, President Mahama expressed confidence in his experienced Vice President, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, to support his mission for a new governance era.
“In the last few years, we have moved from crisis to crisis, but there is hope on the horizon,” President Mahama said.
“Today marks the beginning of a new opportunity—an opportunity for us to make a difference in our governance and economic management.”
He underscored the importance of unity and trust, calling on Ghanaians to have faith in his leadership as he steers the nation toward recovery.
“With faith, you believe in what you know. That is why we need faith to achieve our reset.
We must harness this faith in our country and in our leadership to build a better Ghana,” he said.
The President reaffirmed his commitment to implementing policies that alleviate the burdens on Ghanaians, emphasizing that his government would prioritize initiatives aimed at creating opportunities and driving economic progress.
Central to President Mahama’s vision is the “Reset Ghana” agenda, which he championed during his campaign.
This agenda includes transformative policies such as the ambitious 24-Hour Economy proposal, designed to enhance productivity, create jobs, and improve service delivery.
“We shall reset our dear nation, Ghana,” President Mahama declared, urging citizens to trust in the administration’s ability to deliver on its promises.
