Minority to impeach Akufo-Addo for 'breaching Constitution'

The Minority in Ghana's Parliament has announced plans to launch impeachment proceedings against President Akufo-Addo due to his refusal to sign the anti-LGBTQI+ bill.
Minority Leader Cassiel Ato Forson condemned the recent directive from the secretary to the president, which instructed the clerk of parliament not to send the bill to the Jubilee House.
Dr Forson asserted the Minority's commitment to upholding the country's constitution and rejecting any attempts to undermine it.
He declared solidarity with the Speaker of Parliament for suspending the approval process for recently-vetted ministerial nominees and warned the President and his government that the Minority will not tolerate such actions.
Dr Forson hinted at imminent impeachment proceedings, accusing the president of breaching the constitution.
“We stand with the Speaker of Parliament in this. Let the President of Ghana and his government be aware that where this country is going is strange under his watch, and the NDC Minority will not countenance it."
“But I want to end that it is obvious that His Excellency the President has breached the constitution, and we will advise ourselves. In the coming days, don’t be surprised that we will begin impeachment proceedings against the President", Dr Forson pointed out.
