NDC launches "Operation Looking For The Umbrella" voter education campaign
The main opposition the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled its voter education initiative, dubbed "Operation Looking For The Umbrella," aimed at ensuring a smooth voting process for supporters of John Dramani Mahama and all NDC Parliamentary Candidates in the upcoming general elections on December 7.
Central to this campaign is the call for voters to avoid "skirt and blouse" voting, emphasizing the importance of voting straight for the NDC ticket.
In preparation for the elections, the party has distributed sample and dummy ballot papers nationwide to help reduce the incidence of rejected ballots.
Dr Edward Omane Boamah, the Director of Elections and IT in a statement dated October 13, 2024, outlined critical steps for voters to ensure their ballots are valid.
He urged voters to inspect their ballot papers for any stains, verify the presence of a validation stamp on the back, and confirm that the stamp is from the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.
'If there are any concerns about the ballot paper’s validity, voters should seek assistance from the presiding officer or trained NDC polling agents.
To successfully cast their votes, the NDC encourages supporters to follow these steps:
Look for the Umbrella symbol. Thumbprint horizontally in the empty box on the right. Clean any ink from their thumbs and fingers. Fold the ballot paper along its longest length before folding it again. Drop the ballot in the designated ballot box.The NDC asserts that voting for John Dramani Mahama will lead to significant job creation through the proposed 24-hour economy initiative.
The party aims to mobilize its supporters to participate actively and ensure their votes count in this crucial election.
