NPP Constituency Organisers call on former President Akufo-Addo

Prince Obeng, the Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Wednesday led all Constituency Organisers within the region to pay a courtesy call on the first National Organiser of the party and immediate past President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The visit, held at the former President’s residence in Nima, sought to express gratitude for his leadership and to discuss matters critical to the future of the party, especially the role of Constituency Organisers.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mr. Obeng highlighted the need for constitutional clarity regarding the position of Constituency Organisers within the party structure.
He called for amendments to the NPP Constitution that would clearly define the role, and humbly appealed to the former President to champion this cause.
“We believe the time has come to institutionalise and give prominence to the work of constituency organisers, who play a critical role in grassroots mobilisation and party organisation,” Mr. Obeng stated.
The delegation also raised concerns about what they described as a clandestine attempt by the current government to undermine the independence of the Judiciary, citing the suspension and possible removal of the Chief Justice.
They stressed that such actions must not be used as a pretext to alter constitutional limits on presidential terms.
“A president's two terms cannot be redefined into a third term,” the group firmly asserted.
In response, former President Akufo-Addo warmly welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed his belief in the NPP's ability to bounce back stronger.
“Political parties win or lose elections. Yes, we have lost an election. But I know we can come back. So, we should stop feeling sorry for ourselves. Let’s pick ourselves up, reorganise, and go forward as one,” he urged. “We should behave like we believe we can win back the trust of the people for 2028.”
The meeting was described as highly inspiring and energising for the organisers, who left with renewed determination and a unified sense of purpose.
“The Elephant is indeed a winning symbol — and we will be back,” Mr. Obeng concluded
