NPP assures free, fair and peaceful presidential primaries on January 31
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting its presidential primaries on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in a free, fair, transparent, credible, and peaceful manner.
This assurance followed a joint stakeholder meeting involving the party’s Presidential Elections Committee, the Ghana Police Service (GPS), and the Electoral Commission (EC), held as part of final preparations for the internal contest.
The meeting brought together representatives of the NPP’s national leadership as well as agents of the various presidential aspirants.
Discussions focused primarily on security arrangements and operational preparedness to protect the integrity of the process and ensure a smooth voting exercise nationwide.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, assured participants of sufficient security deployment, emphasizing the police service’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful, incident-free election.
Stakeholders at the meeting expressed satisfaction with the work of the Presidential Elections Committee so far, describing the coordination among the party, security agencies, and the Electoral Commission as reassuring.
They noted that the collaborative approach demonstrates a shared determination to safeguard the credibility of the party’s internal democratic processes.
The NPP’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, alias Nana B, reiterated the party’s resolve to uphold democratic principles and deliver a transparent and credible contest that truly reflects the will of delegates.
The party further indicated that it is focused on ensuring the January 31 primaries promote party unity and boost public confidence as it moves into the next phase of its electoral journey.
