NPP elects parliamentary candidates in constituencies with sitting MPs today

Today, Saturday, January 27, 2024, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is conducting parliamentary primaries in constituencies where the party currently has incumbent Members of Parliament (MPs).
Out of the 373 aspirants who initially filed to contest in the primaries, 29 are running unopposed after vetting. Additionally, 11 aspirants were disqualified, two were referred to the National Executive Committee (NEC) for further consideration, two withdrew their candidacies, one submitted an incomplete form, and two failed to show up for vetting. Consequently, there are 326 qualified aspirants participating in the primaries.
In preparation for the primaries, the party has announced that the Ghana Police Service will be solely responsible for security arrangements during the polls.
The General Secretary, Justin Kodua emphasised that no private security personnel or equipment would be allowed at the election venues, and anyone found violating this directive would face consequences from the police.
This move aims to ensure a fair, transparent, and secure electoral process, reflecting the party's commitment to upholding democratic principles within its internal elections.
