NPP endorses Solomon Kwame Asumadu as candidate for Akwatia by-election

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially endorsed Solomon Kwame Asumadu, the Chief Executive Officer of Owuo Mining Company, as its Parliamentary Candidate for the upcoming Akwatia by-election.
The party’s leadership settled on Mr. Asumadu through a consensus-building process, foregoing the need for a competitive primary.
The decision, according to party insiders, reflects a unified front aimed at retaining the seat and ensuring party cohesion ahead of the 2024 general elections.
In a brief statement, the NPP described Mr. Asumadu as a “dedicated patriot and accomplished entrepreneur whose experience and community engagement make him the ideal choice to represent Akwatia.”
Party executives and local stakeholders are optimistic that Mr. Asumadu’s candidacy will resonate with constituents, citing his extensive philanthropic work and commitment to grassroots development in the area.
The by-election in Akwatia follows the vacancy created by the death of the sitting Member of Parliament, Ernest Kumi.
The Electoral Commission is expected to announce the date for the poll in the coming days.
Mr. Asumadu is expected to begin his campaign immediately, focusing on consolidating party support and engaging with the electorate on his development agenda.
