NPP polls: “Vote me out if you don’t like me” – Subin MP to Delegates
The Member of Parliament for Subin, Mr Eugene Boakye-Antwi has stated that detractors within his constituency can vote him out during the governing New Patriotic Party’s primaries in April 2020.
Mr Boakye-Antwi nonetheless said he will surprise his detractors by winning the ticket against his contenders since the majority of the constituents and delegates are on his side.
The lawmaker told Kwabena Prah Jr on Accra100.5FM’s 'Ghana Yensom' morning show on Tuesday, 14 January, 2020 that he cared less about not being loved by some of his constituents and delegates who, he said, are bent on bringing him down.
The livid lawmaker was hopeful that his constituents who support his political ambition will vote massively for him in the primaries.
According to him, he has improved the lives of his constituents by investing in their businesses, thus, expressed the confidence that he would retain his ticket and seat.
He described his detractors as people who are lazy and envious of his success, hence the peddling of “falsehood” against him as having squandered Christmas goodies given to the delegates in the constituency by President Nana Akufo-Addo.
“They should all calm down, when we go for the primaries, delegates who don’t see the need to vote for me to be the parliamentary candidate can vote against me, but I can promise them that I have the numbers to win the primaries. I will win the party’s primaries hands down; they should mark it. Yes, my detractors will be shamed after the primaries,” The Subin MP said.
Debunking claims that he suspended some of his constituency members who are not in his good books, an incensed Mr Boakye-Antwi said he has no such powers.
