NPP primary: Essikado-Ketan NPP Chairman denies endorsing Dr. Bawumia
The Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Essikado-Ketan Constituency of the Western Region, Mr Frederick Larcarsas Afful, has refuted claims circulating on social media suggesting that he has declared his support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
In a statement issued on Thursday in reaction to a story carried on Ghanaweb with the headline: 'NPP Primaries: Bryan Acheampong's coordinator quits; declares support for Bawumia', Mr. Afful described the viral post as false and misleading, emphasising that it does not represent his position as a constituency chairman.
“My attention has been drawn to a social media post claiming that I have endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
I wish to state categorically that the said post is not a true reflection of my stance,” he clarified.
He explained that his interaction with Dr. Bawumia during the latter’s visit to the constituency was purely in line with protocol and courtesy expected of any mature party chairman.
Mr. Afful further urged the public and party members to disregard the false publication, reaffirming his commitment to his current role as the coordinator for Dr. Bryan Acheampong in the Essikado-Ketan Constituency in the Western Region.
