NPP sets up review team to study Constitutional Review Committee proposals
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has initiated an internal review of the final proposals submitted by the Constitutional Review Committee (CRC) to the President, as part of its participation in the ongoing constitutional review process.
In a statement, the party said its leadership had earlier constituted a joint committee to prepare and present the NPP’s proposals to the CRC.
The committee was jointly led by Mr Anyimadu, Ranking Member on Parliament’s Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee, and Frank Davies, Chairman of the NPP’s Constitutional and Legal Committee.
Following the submission of the CRC’s final proposals to the President yesterday, the General Secretary of the NPP has now directed the same joint committee to study the recommendations in detail and advise the National Council of the party accordingly.
Other members of the joint committee include Hon. Hassan Tampuli, Hon. O.B. Amoah, Hon. Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Gary Nimako, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, Hon. Dr. Mahama Tiah Abdul-Kabiru, Hon. Fati Abubakar and Hanifa Adjoa Yahaya.
The party has urged its members to exercise restraint and caution in commenting publicly on the CRC proposals while the internal review process is ongoing.
According to the statement, the official position of the NPP on the final proposals submitted by the CRC will be communicated to the public after the joint committee completes its assessment and submits its recommendations to the National Council.
