NPP to open nominations for 2028 flagbearer race on July 29

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that it will officially open nominations for its 2028 presidential flagbearer race on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
This development signals the start of a crucial phase in the party’s preparations for the 2026 presidential primaries, which are slated for January 31, 2026.
Confirming the date during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, the NPP’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, stated that the move is in line with the party’s constitutional requirement to provide at least six months’ notice ahead of the primaries.
The opening of nominations sets the stage for what is expected to be a keenly contested internal race as the party begins the search for a successor to lead it into the 2028 general elections.
