Obuasi East: Sammy Gyamfi salutes communication officer who tackled 2 armed military men
The National Communication Officer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress, Mr Sammy Gyamfi, has congratulated and commended the party’s Obuasi East Communication Officer who fought and prevented two armed military men from going to a nearby polling station.
Addressing journalists during Saturday’s general elections, Mr Gyamfi said: “Not too long ago, we had a very unfortunate incident at Obuasi where our constituency communication officer boldly stood up to two military men holding AK47 and M16 – very sophisticated weapons – who were trying to go to the polling stations.”
“What is the business of a military officer at a polling station at this stage of the electoral process when there was no issue at that polling station; no security situation at that polling station?”
“And I want to salute that comrade for standing his ground against intimidation,” Mr Gyamfi praised.
He accused the incumbent government of deploying military personnel all across the country to intimidate voters and interfere with the electoral process.
