Osafo Maafo case: All my anti-graft allies at Audit Service victimsed, demoted – Domelevo
Former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo has revealed that all the staff at the Audit Service who helped him to investigate former Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Maafo in relation to his supervision of the payment of $1 million to Kroll and Associates for no work done, have been demoted.
One of them, he said, has been transferred to the Central Region.
Speaking at the Domelevo Accountability Lectures organised by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung on the theme: “Can a public officer fight corruption without political backing,” on Thursday, 1 July 2021, Mr Domelevo said “all the people who were associated or identified to have a role to play in the audit of the Ministry of Finance which resulted in the Senior Minister’s issue, have had their share.”
For instance, he noted, that a Deputy Auditor-General in charge of Central Government Audit, has been demoted two steps lower.
In March this year, President Akufo-Addo directed Mr Domelevo to proceed on retirement after he returned from his 167-day forced leave on March 3.
